They were from very different worlds, the two of them. Gavin was fresh out of graduate school, making a living as a writer on the cusp of self-publication, while Julep was outgoing and handy, a master at balancing playtime and her passion for science.
And yet the two grew intimately close, to the point Gavin decided to join her in the Mentha Manor, leaving his roommates behind. Not that he minded - they never liked her pranks as much as he did, and he could finally raise his bees in peace. He wasn’t the best cook, having subsisted on mostly microwave meals throughout college, but his honey cakes were truly delicious.
