Poppy was determined not to let her depression get the best of her - she continued her daily jogs, started psyching herself up and practicing speeches, and hung out with dad when possible.

By the way, here’s a glance at my Newcrest!

Now young adults, Peony and Poppy immediately set to getting themselves jobs. Peony, utilizing her extroversion and popularity, decided to become a style influencer. Poppy, on the other hand, decided with a heavy heart that her dream of becoming a writer was a dead-end, and given that she had to take care of her aging father, she called up Nayeli and asked her for help getting into the Business career. With Nayeli’s help, Poppy and Rusty moved to the renovated Newcrest.

Generation Seven has begun.

◈ Generation Seven: Pink

You grew up poor and are living paycheck to paycheck working in the business career just as your parents did. You long to write romance novels but are too afraid to quit your steady job to follow your dreams. You’re very practical and you know the chances of making it as a writer are slim, so you stay working at your nine to five. As an adult you finally decide to pursue your dreams. You’re a hopeless romantic, but your unflirty downer nature makes it nearly impossible to find love.

Traits: Neat, Unflirty Depressed*, Creative
Aspiration: Bestselling Author
Career: Business

Begone, acne/awkward haircut/braces! Happy birthday to Poppy and Peony!

Given that we’re close to the official end of Generation Six, I wanted to take the time to appreciate Rusty over the years. I tried something new with him to try and show a more gradual and realistic aging, and I think it turned out really nice. I grew quite attached to him over these weeks.

Rusty: So…you guys are moving away to Forgotten Hollow?

Raeni: You know your father, he can’t stay in one place for long. Plus, it’s pretty much the only place vampires can freely hang out. We won’t be so far, we’ll be able to visit your daughters sometimes.

Rusty: I hope things work out for you three there. And…I’m…I’m sorry for being a rotten kid.

Raeni: You were never rotten. We always loved you, and we still do. We always will.

As Rusty, Sage, Raeni, and Peony catch up, Poppy finds herself chatting with her aunt, Amber - who, functionally, is almost the same age as her.

Poppy: High school is full of jerks! How did you deal with it?

Amber: Just like that - remembering it’s full of jerks that don’t matter. Life’s gonna be a lot more fun once you’re out of school.

Sage: …Rusty?

Rusty: Hey, dad.

Sage: …you’ve aged. Gracefully, I’ll say.

Rusty: I could be your dad.

Sage: There’s the Rusty humor. Let me hug you. We’ve missed you, a lot.

Rusty is finally an Elder! And he’s got something he has to do before his time is up.

Rusty: Guess what your dad did today!

Peony: …went to the dry cleaners…?

And with that, all the requirements for Generation Six are complete!

  • Master baking and charisma skills COMPLETED!
  • Master criminal career and complete Public Enemy aspiration COMPLETED!
  • Must live be homeless for entire young adult life COMPLETED!
  • Have twins, but only those two children COMPLETED!
  • Insist on being evil (claim to be criminal mastermind) but nobody believes you, not even your own children COMPLETED!

Rusty’s midlife crisis? To buy a giant cupcake factory machine. At least the profiteroles it made were delicious.

When Peony invited some of her female friends over, a round of name-calling followed by a full-on brawl was the last thing she expected…and the fact that Poppy lost only made the less-popular sister more upset.

It would hardly be the last time Poppy would get into a fight, too…

As she continues to struggle with bullies at school, Poppy turns to the world of writing to cope, developing characters and putting them into various stories. She’s still a bit too shy to start posting it online, though.

Poppy had a bad day at school - someone had pointed out the obnoxiously large zit on her face, and the whole cafeteria had a laugh about it. Coming home mortified and in tears, Rusty quietly sat with her and helped her calm down.

Rusty: Remember, Poppy, high school doesn’t matter. What matters is your family, who loves you and cares about you.

Speaking of which…he’d been thinking…

Feeling self-conscious about her weight, Poppy starts doing morning jogs before school. Her extroverted sister, meanwhile, works her part-time job as a barista.

Peony: Girl…did you dye your hair?

Poppy: Yeah! Did it all myself! What do you think?

Peony: It’s…uh…great!

~~~
Peony: Pink highlights? And she’s posting it on Simstragram? Oh jeez…I hope the other kids don’t make fun of her for this…
