⚽ generation four modifications

Generation Four (Grey) is coming soon, and will have the most modifications thus far, and likely overall in the challenge, since I lack both the Parenthood and City Living packs that would give me what I need for it - so keep it clear, I’m going to list out the modifications now as a self-reference.
 
In order to make this harder for myself since I am making these changes, I will be adding a requirement to the rules for this generation. Modifications and new additions are bolded.
 
Generation Four: Grey
 
You always felt that you were different. While the rest of your family was busy messing around in the lab, you just wanted to be outside playing basketball. You’re very good at sports and you dream of becoming a professional athlete. To make up for your nonexistent relationship with your parents you want to be there for your own children as much as possible. Oh, and you love to sing play instruments.

◈ Challenge Info

 The Not So Berry Legacy Challenge, created by @lilsimsie and @alwaysimming, is a ten generation legacy run where every generation is themed differently in terms of color, personalities, careers, and more! The original challenge can be found HERE.

For the purposes of this legacy run, I will be making some modifications and addendums to the original rules, mostly since I am lacking some of the expansion packs (and also to aid in immersion or clear up some things). For more information on the expansion packs I have/don’t have, check out the FAQ.

◈ MODIFICATIONS ◈
  • If a personality trait, career, or aspiration is from an expansion pack I lack, the Sim in question will be modified to have something that is as close as possible to the intended item/character personality (e.g, instead of being a work-obsessed politician, a Sim will be a work-obsessed secret agent) or will be changed to something that is thematically relevant (e.g, instead of having the green Vegetarian trait, a Sim will have the green Loves Outdoors trait).
  • The Townie that a Sim marries MUST be edited in CAS to have outfits that match the generation’s color theme. For this reason, the cas.fulleditmode cheat may be used if necessary. 
  • Since the challenge involves designing themed houses along with themed Sims, either the heir may move out into their own house when they are of age, or they may stay in the house and the non-heirs may move out. They may also move out to any lot in any world, with the exception of the Generation 3 Sim (must live in Oasis Springs), the Generation 5 Sim (must live in three different worlds), and the Generation 8 Sim (cannot live in the same world they were raised in).
  • If a Sim marries a Townie that brings in money to the family, the household is allowed to keep it. However, if the amount exceeds §20,000, it must by lowered to be no more than 20k.
  • Custom Content and Mods are allowed.
  • CAS editing cheats and Occult Sim editing cheats (for Townies only, and only for removing the trait) are allowed. Money cheats are not allowed, with the exception of freerealestate, and only when an heir first moves into a new house.
  • There are no restrictions on which Townies a Sim can marry, including for race, gender/gender identity, appearance, etc. There are also no restrictions on who can be the heir, including by age, position in the family, adopted status, gender/gender identity, etc. Sims can also marry aliens or vampires, or use the traits.remove_trait trait_Occult[Alien/Vampire] cheat to circumvent this. The trait can only be removed, and only on Townies - it cannot added to any Sims.
  • The heir may also marry a non-Townie Sim (e.g, a Gallery-downloaded Sim, a custom-made Sim, etc), but only once every other generation.

Julep was always the rebel of her family, and left home at a young age to make a new life for herself in Oasis Springs. Setting her sights on a lucrative career as a scientist, she quickly climbed the ladder at work, becoming a formidable technician.
 
As she delved further into her career, Julep met one of her neighbors, Gavin Richards, and quickly became close friends, despite the disapproval of his roommates. Following through with her New Year resolution to find herself a partner, she and Gavin began dating, and grew exceptionally close in a short time. He soon moved in, and after many months together, the two wed.
 
After their marriage, Julep settled down and had her daughter, Cerise. She raised her with tenderness and love, even despite the drastic changes to her personality in her teen years. When Cerise became pregnant, Julep comforted her and allowed her to stay at home, taking care of the toddler while Cerise focused on her career. Julep may have been the only friend little Sorrel ever had.
 
Julep passed away shortly after her husband, Gavin.

Gavin Richards

Fresh out of graduate school, the English major Gavin found himself rooming with three other people in a crowded house as he struggled through his early days as a writer. As he worked hard towards his goal to become a bestselling author, he came across his new neighbor, Julep. The two became fast friends thanks to his appreciation of her pranks and mischeviousness, and when she asked him to consider dating, he was absolutely on board.
 
At first, Julep would come to visit him - but when his roommates did not take to her pranks as well as he did, he began visiting her more, and eventually moved in with her to be closer. Despite how different their personalities were, they became intimately close, and eventually Gavin proposed to her. Julep was ecstatic for the two to become truly family.
 
Soon after they were married, Gavin and Julep had Cerise - despite having no experience raising a child, Gavin took to it immediately, raising his daughter with love and care. Even when he disagreed with her behavior as a teenager, he chose to continue supporting her as best he could, especially after during her pregnancy. After she moved out and Julep retired, Gavin continued his career as a writer.
 
Gavin passed away at a ripe old age.

Cerise was introduced to the world shortly after Julep and Gavin's marriage. Resembling her father in freckles, mother in eyes, and grandmother in hair color, she found that unlike her mother's love for mint, her favorite colors were the warm reds and pinks of roses.
 
As a child, Cerise was a total Social Butterfly, making friends and charming teachers with ease. As an A student and a Master Llamacorn Scout, she was already showing signs of being a smart, independent young lady.
 
When she became a teenager, Cerise's personality underwent a drastic change. She was still a top student, but found herself constantly surrounded by friends and invited to parties. She began to truly establish her own identity with bright red and pink colors, and started dating around...but not always with the right guys. After getting knocked up by her boyfriend Reese, he immediately dumped her after a shouting match, leaving her alone with a baby.
 
Cerise immediately threw herself into her work, and began dating around, unable to commit to one guy or girl for long. With a busy career and social life, her growing son Sorrel was left with Grandma Julep to be cared for. After her parents passed away, she made an effort to become closer to Sorrel, only for it to backfire.
 
As she grew older, Cerise continued to flirt around, dating multiple people at the same time - her longest-running girlfriend, attempted to propose to her, only for Cerise to harshly reject her at the altar. After that, Cerise called it off with all of her current partners, and focused entirely on her career - in the process, neglecting to spend time with her son.
 
After shouting match after shouting match with Sorrel, he finally left, and Cerise was left to her career. As she grew older, she began to grow closer with one of her old highschool sweethearts, Caleb. The two eventually moved in together, and he proposed - this time, she accepted without hesitation. The two retired together.
 
Cerise died at a ripe old age, finally happy.

After Cerise had her squabble with Sorrel - who always disliked Caleb - she allowed him to move in, and the two became closer. When he chanced proposing to her, he was thrilled when she accepted, and the two lived our their retirement together.
 
Caleb died sometime after his wife.

Sorrel was never close to his mother - as he grew older, he began to feel she resented him, perhaps seeing him as a reminder of her failed relationship with Reese. Growing up independent and a loner, Sorrel put himself into his studies rather than make any friends - aside from his grandma, Julep. He was exceptionally close with her, and was devastated after her death. Without her, Sorrel struggled to make any other friends.
 
As a teenager, Sorrel began to more openly criticize his mother's behavior, and keep to himself. He turned his interests towards the stars, hoping one day to reach the mysterious planet Sixam.
 
As he grew older still, Sorrel finally had enough of his mother's behavior, and moved out, refusing to stay with her a minute longer as a young adult. He moved out into his own home with Peppermint, and began working towards his goal of reaching Sixam. Along the way, a strange, darkly colored family moved in down the street, and Sorrel hit it off well with the daughter, Scarlett. The two began dating and soon after married.
 
After the twins were born, Sorrel kept working hard to provide for the family, well into his adulthood. He did somewhat regret not spending as much time at home with the boys, but trusted Scarlett to look after them. He never lost sight of his goal to get to Sixam, and soon enough, he one day was able to make the necessary upgrades to get there. He revelled in the alien environment, and treasured the experience for a long time, even into his twilight years.
 
Sorrel passed away peacefully, thinking of the stars.

Shortly after, Sorrel proposed, and the two wed - Scarlett couldn't help but think Sorrel was moving a little too fast, but she did care for him deeply.
 
The two had Coal and Ash, their twin sons, shortly after, and stay-at-home mom Scarlett did her best to raise them, despite how vastly different they were. She particularly enjoyed that Ash took after her own love for the arts, and taught him to paint.
 
Eventually, she grew older. She did her best to balance her freelance painting and raising her teenage sons, continuing to keep in contact with them after they moved out. Scarlett passed away a short time after her husband.

Ash became close friends with Iris Feng, the new student at his school - he stood up for her and the two formed a fast romance, eventually moving in together when Ash left home. Working as a veterinarian, and with a pet Akita dog and a baby, Ash did his best to balance his life while still being cheery.
 
As his daughter, Selena, grew older, and Ash became closer with his girlfriend, he eventually proposed to her, content to live his life with Iris. He still maintained a close relationship with his twin brother as well.

The younger twin, Coal loved to run circles around his family in the yard. He adored playing on swings, jungle gyms, and monkey bars, and valued friends over schoolwork. He hardly took anything seriously, which could not be more different than the rest of his family. Another interest he developed into his teen years was his love for music, and fondness for learning how to play instruments. After being attacked by a vampire on the first few days of living alone in Brindleton Bay, Coal developed a fascination with them. He eventually found one who was willing to turn him, and accepted.
 
Coal went through failed relationship after failed relationship, first with a highschool crush that turned out to be controlling, then with a girl who turned mean and hostile when she found out she was pregnant with Coal's child. The only support he really had was his roommate, Gerard, who stuck with him throuh thick and thin. Just when it seemed Coal had found the woman of his dreams in the seductive older Beth, Gerard called her out, having seen her with her husband and child at the restaurant he worked in. After breaking up with Beth, Coal came to realize that he had feelings for Gerard, who confessed he too had been crushing on Coal for a while. The two began dating as their family expanded.
 
Coal and Gerard decided to get married as their two daughters grew into teenagers. Coal was excelling at his athletic career, Gerard was reaching new heights as a skilled mixologist, and their children were exceedingly happy.

Coal invited him to move in right away, and Gerard obliged, grateful for the opportunity.
 
As his close friends went through a messy relationship with Alexandra, who ended up becoming pregnant, Gerard was quick to come to his defense, protecting him from her outrage and eventually throwing her out after little Sage was born. He maintained this fierce protectiveness with Coal's third girlfriend, the cougar Beth. After seeing her with her real husband and child at the restaurant he worekd at, a furious Gerard confronted her when she came to visit Coal again, and supported him through his breakup.
 
Truth be told, Gerard had an intense crush on Coal that he was too shy to admit to, for fear his friend wouldn't reciprocate. So when Coal admitted he had feelings for Gerard, the thrilled romantic was overjoyed. The two began dating and adopted the twin girls, Lilac and Lavender, to add to their happy household. Gerard and Coal also got married shortly after.

Once an angelic toddler and affectionate child, Sage grew up into the typical rotten teenager, constantly keeping to himself and playing gloomy songs on the piano. He certainly loved his dads and little sisters, but because of his biological vampirism and odd lack of interest in dating or sex, he felt a sense of alienation. He preferred the company of his easel and books to any sort of party-goers or partners. That was, until, he met Raeni, and felt something stir in his heart. But his seeming repulsion to any form of sexual contact and overall fear of being tied down was worrying, even to him - could he drive her away? His vehement rejection of her first proposal after the two moved into a house together in Oasis Springs was not a good start.
 
Eventually, however, the two did marry, but it was incredibly short-lived. Arguments about sexuality, children, and finance grated on the relationship, until the two broke it off, and Raeni moved to another home. At first, the noncommittal Sage was thrilled to be single again - but time in an empty home made him sorrowful, and regret his decision. In desperation, he turned to the internet to learn if what he was afflicted by was normal - and thus, he uncovered the definition of asexuality. Thrilled by this discovery, he came to find Raeni again and begged for forgiveness, explaining himself. It took some convincing, but truth be told, Raeni was feeling lonely too. The two agreed that if she was to move in with him again, having children in some manner was back on the table. Thus began a long string of fostering and adopting, first with little Marigold, then Rusty, and finally the youngest, Amber.
 
After Marigold moved out to go to college, Sage decided he wanted a change of pace, and quit his job as a nurse to become a musical entertainer.

Raeni, an Barbados native, came to Brindleton Bay to study programming, and ended up meeting Sage in the midst of a storm. The two hit it off incredibly well and began dating, though Raeni could not help being suspicious of Sage's seemingly non-committal nature. She did, after the two had been dating for some time and had moven into a house together in Oasis Springs, attempt to pop the question - and the aggressive response she got put the idea out of her mind for a long time, and created a perpetual bit of worry about that boy. Despite his eventual proposal to her, and their happy elopement, her fears came to pass after their short-lived marriage crumbled from constant arguments about sex and having children. Though she left after the sloppy divorce, she heard back from her prunish ex a few weeks later, explaining that he had discovered he was a sex-repulsed asexual and that he wanted to continue being with her, if she'd be willing to accept a romance-only relationship. Though initially skeptical, she did, but only if the subject of having children was still on the table - thus began a long string of fostering and adopting, first with little Marigold, then Rusty, and finally the youngest, Amber.

She was always interested in the arts, and found solace from her loneliness with her imagination - thus, she began posting her art and selfies to Simstagram, aiming to become an eCelebrity.

The second of the three adopted children of Sage and Raeni, Rusty's distinct appearance made him clearly stand out against his family. Given the unfortunate gift of heterochromia, and a bit of chubbiness, Rusty endured teasing and exclusion both at school and at the hands of both of his sisters. Because of both of these, Rusty became a bit of a bully in his own right. He started breaking into the homes of the neighbors and eating their food, until finally confronted by Amber. After she told their father, Sage threw Rusty out, demanding he shape himself up before returning home. Rather than succumb, Rusty made himself a small nest in a park with Peppermint and decided to fully become a criminal.

During his days of living in a public park, fishing, pick-pocketing, and scraping together funds for dinner, Rusty ended up dating around, and one particular girl - Michaela Velasquez - became his 'official' girlfriend. Rusty was glad to spend any chance he had at her house, having a warm bed instead of his park bench to sleep on. After spending his young adult life constantly taking trips to the Movers and Shakers gymnasium to shower and wash his clothes and hoping no storms would come around, he clinched a promotion at work and was rewarded with his own one-story flat, just in time for his birthday. Not long after, Michaela had twins - Peony and Poppy.

When Michaela found out about Rusty's criminal behavior, she dumped him on the spot, leaving him to raise the two twins alone. He did his best, finding solace in the two girls, who were kind and gentle with him. He raised them on a steady diet of delicious baked goods and used most of the money he earned from work to buy them the toys and books they desired. He loved them both dearly - even when, as they aged, they regarded his claims of being a criminal mastermind with increasing skepticism.

As an Elder, Rusty was able to reconcile with his parents and younger sister - despite out-aging all of them - and retired from his work as a criminal to move in with Poppy in Newcrest.

 The older of the two twins, Peony was an extroverted and charming girl, with luxurious hair and a friendly voice. She was a magnet for friends, and often had sleepovers and playdates lined up in her schedule. Unlike her sister, she seemed to have a natural gift for socialization, but lacked in school smarts and creativity. That being said, she did love a good prank.

Peony grew into a chubby, attractive teenager who had a number of boyfriends and an even bigger wealth of friends. Though many of them told her to leave her awkward, bumbling sister behind for parties and dates, she still tried to make time for her.

As a young adult, Peony became a style influencer, putting her romantic and outgoing nature to work at setting trends. She began moving around a lot, leaving Poppy to take care of their aging father in her Newcrest home.

 The younger of the two twins, Poppy was loud, immature, and smart as a whip. She loved to have her hand in the air in class and was always trying to butt into people's conversations to feel included, but that only resulted in people giving her a wide berth and treating her like a weirdo. Not that Poppy really minded as a kid - she was perfectly happy to have her sister and her dad as her only friends.

As a teenager, Poppy somehow managed to do everything wrong - badly self-dyed hair, acne, braces, nerdy, you name it. She was frequently bullied, especially when compared against her starkly different sister. She ended up getting into writing, to escape to a new realm separate from reality.

Poppy, as a young adult, decided that despite her love for writing, her skills were better put to a 'legitimate' job - not to mention her depression from years of bullying and awkwardness had left her without much confidence. With help from Rusty's old flame, she got a job at an insurance startup in Newcrest and moved in with her elderly father.

  • Created by BerryPie27, Berry Sims are colorful Sims, often with thematic skin colors, hair colors, and names. For the purpose of the #notsoberry challenge, Sims do not have to have skin colors and names, but should still try to have themed clothing and homes.

6) Are there any modifications to your run of the challenge?

  • Yes, these are listed on the CHALLENGE INFO page. The largest modification is due to myself lacking specific careers or personality traits from certain content packs.

7) How do you tag posts on this blog?

  • I tag posts by generation and Sim name, as well as the official #notsoberry tumblr tag, the #simblr tag, and the Sims4 community tags. CC is tagged with #sylvancc. Miscellaneous mod posts are tagged #modpost.

8) When do you officially transition from one generation to another?

  • When the heir of the next generation becomes a young adult - before then, I will post about them in their character tag, but will continue to tag it with the previous generation until they are no longer a teenager. This is to keep in line with the descriptions of each heir, which refer to them as adults. You will also know the transition occurred since the colored banner on each post, the blog description, and the blog colors/pictures will change to match the generation’s theme.

9) Will you continue using this blog for new challenges after the #notsoberry one is completed?

  • I would love to! I have a few challenges in mind, including CAS Challenges and other Legacy Runs!

10) Where do you find your CC?

  • Mostof my CC and mods are found from @plumbeeccfinds, @petalscc, and @bramblefinch, and others I find via the Simblr tag! A few others I picked up randomly from YouTube and Sims forums, like the four-column CAS mod and the MC Command Center mod. If you have any questions about specific CC, send me a message!

  • Peppermint’s real name is Toby, and he was created by paintbottle on the Sim Gallery!

◈ Not So Berry Legacy Challenge

 The Not So Berry Legacy Challenge, created by @lilsimsie and @alwaysimming, is a ten generation legacy run where every generation is themed differently in terms of color, personalities, careers, and more! The original challenge can be found HERE. I have edited some of the details to better fit the Packs I own.

 ◈ Not So Berry Legacy Challenge ◈
Do you like the rainbow? Do you like the idea of playing with berry Sims but hate berry Sims? Do you want to mess around with aspects of the game you’ve never used before? Boy, do I have the challenge for you!
 
Welcome to the Not So Berry Legacy Challenge, a ten generation legacy with a focus on bright colors and new experiences.
 
Basic Rules:
◈ Each heir must represent the color of the generation (i.e. hair, makeup, clothing), but brightly colored skin is not necessary (these aren’t actually berry Sims, that’s the joke). Of course, this is optional but a big portion of the fun.
 
◈ The colors of the spouses don’t matter as they aren’t part of the challenge. Unless otherwise stated you can do whatever you please with them.
 
◈ Money cheats can be used, but not excessively. Suggestion: use freerealestate for your first home, but no cheats afterward.
 
◈ You may live wherever you please unless something is specified in the rules of a generation.
 
◈ Every generation is supposed to complete both the career and aspiration of the heir unless explicitly stated otherwise.
 
◈ Keep the lifespan on normal.

You’re very practical and you know the chances of making it as a writer are slim, so you stay working at your nine to five. As an adult you finally decide to pursue your dreams. You’re a hopeless romantic, but your unflirty downer nature makes it nearly impossible to find love.
